This project focused on the use of silhouette lighting in photos. I mainly used tiny figures I had in my room along with the flashlight from my phone. All of these were taken in my room on the floor and I used the flashlight because I could control and manipulate it better than other light sources. I used the figurines because they were small and in order for the light to create a good silhouette I needed smaller figures. I set my camera on manual so it wouldn't adjust the lighting automatically, then I set up my subject and lighting in order to create a silhouette. When arranging my objects I usually kept them centered rather than having something off to one side. These photos showcase a lot of shape because you can't see any lines within the object. I feel the outline of the object that's created by the flashlight gives emphasis to the object rather than it's surroundings.
May of my photos are soft focus meaning the silhouette is blurry and unfocused. The only sharp focus photo is 'Wood Carving Silhouette' in which the object has a crisp silhouette and you can clearly see the outline. All of these photos are examples of silhouette lighting based on the requirements of the project. For my project I tried multiple type of lighting and different positions around my room. I found that my flashlight worked the best overall for lighting and the best position was on the floor because I could rest my phone against the dresser.
To me this project feels very rushed and I wish I had put more effort into the photos. I limited my photos to the figures instead of asking my friends or family for help. I feel if I had thought more out of the box and been more creative with my photos this project would've been stronger than it is now.
