For our second to last project, I went back to a my more traditional concentration of houses. I drew a house in a three-by-three square. I arranged a configuration that I liked and after I figured out the shape of the house, I used ink to add color. I used a light yellow for the base of my house, but then went back over with a richer yellow to brighten the piece. Then I used watered-down brown ink to do a wash and then went back with darker brown and added a crosshatch pattern. To add more character I used green ink to place ivy around the edges of the roof and door. I took this project home, but had no ink so I decided to use acrylic paint to finish the piece. Using blue and white I finished the background and placed clouds around to try and strengthen the composition. I also used a light blue acrylic to fill in the windows and then went over them with white. Once the paint dried, I outlined the roof and chimney with brown pen and added to the pattern I had made with the ink earlier. With dark green pen I created layers over the ivy. The last step was to outline my border with sharpie and add a door handle.

For my second piece I wanted to experiment with fused glass. I started by looking for bigger pieces of glass and trying to arrange them into the shape of a house. I knew I wanted my house to be yellow and focused my search on that color. In order to get the shape I wanted, there were spaces between the pieces. Once I had the base done I searched for pieces that would work as a roof. I wanted to contrast the powerful yellow of the base, so I decided the roof would be white. I had to arrange these pieces in the shape of a triangle so it was difficult to find the right shape for each one. Once all my pieces were in place I chose many of the tinier pieces of glass as a filler between the larger pieces. After everything was glued down, I felt that the background was very blank and I added blue and purple pieces of glass to take up the space.
