This project was all about hands. I was in the library with my camera and wanted to take a photo of my friends. The pose they came up with themselves and I thought it was a cute representation of friendship and love between friends at this age. The background is just the books in the library and my subjects are my friends grace and siham. My main concentration is people so I wanted to incorporate that theme in my final photo. I do feel like there is a balance in my photo with one person on each side and the books in the background. The photo also focuses on shape with the shape of the hands being the most important piece of the photo.
The composition rule that are showcased in this photo is one, repetition and grouping. This can be seen in the book shelves behind my friends. The books are placed in certain areas and their spines create repetition being next to each other. The second composition rule is selective focus. The background of my photo is blurred and only my main subjects are in focus. I feel this allows the audience to pay more attention to the main subjects than to the background, which is important. The one thing that I changed in this photo was the color because I felt it looked better in black and white. I added a filter on the photo and cropped it in order to have less negative space that wasn't part of my foreground.
At first I only had one of my friends in the picture, but then I asked for someone else to jump in as well. They chose their own pose and one of the photos turned out good so I choose it as my final photo. I then decided how I wanted to edit it and put a black and white filter on the photo.
