For this project we continued to use the pinch pot technique that is shown in the sphere project. This time the minimum number of pinch pots we had to have was 5. I wanted to create a tealight candle holder that could hold multiple candles at a time. I started with 2 very big Pinch pots that I molded into 1 large sphere. From there I cut out a circle as the open for the candle. Separately I created a smaller sphere and cut a similar hole into that one. I attached this smaller sphere to the upper left of the large one. This made 4 pinch pots so I added a smaller bowl to the right side of the large one. Now the Large sphere was the base and holding up the other 2. In order to add texture, I started poking small holed in the 2 spheres. I noticed that the light from a candle would not be able to be seen through these tiny holes, so I made them bigger and this created the spiky texture on the outside. Once fired I glazed my candle holder with PC-59 and it came out this vibrate red that I adore. Overall I can't wait to use this piece and see if it functions as I imagine.
