1) I believe my multiple pinch pot creation is the piece I am most proud of from this class. Its purpose is to be a tea light candle holder. The light from the candle would stream through the holes I made in the base of the pots. I especially love the texture I was able to render by expanding the holes with a tool and pushing that excess clay up and out. The glaze I chose to use (PC-59) makes this piece stand out even more once fired than I thought it would going on. The range in pot sizes adds character to the piece and the overall size isn't too large or too small making it easy to place around the house. This piece was sparked from my own original idea and I think that's what makes me love it the most.
2) Much of my art over my high school career has been 2D and flat. This class has made me expand my horizons past paint on paper and into 3D creations. I usually stay away from working with clay because of how long the process took to complete each project, but through this class I have gained a respect for that process and how long it has to take to get everything right. I've learned that simple forms such as a vase or a mug should be considered art even if they don't include the traditional mediums like acrylic or watercolor. I have taken he 3D design class sophomore year and from then to now I see a large improvement in my clay work.
3) I enjoyed this class a lot and the ability to create what we wanted within the guidelines. This allowed for individual expression and no piece was the same. The artist research project and the artist inspired project were very similar and it felt to me like the same project just with a different final result. I would end up choosing one of the two for the class to do and either replacing or doing away with the other. All other projects were helpful in learning building techniques and expanding out knowledge.
