During my semester of 2D I explored a lot of different techniques, skills, and materials. The class taught me a lot of new skills and gave me good ideas for the future. I got to discover what I liked and what I didn't like. What worked for me, and what I didn't do so good at. Over all this class has helped me develop my skills and create new ones. My favorite projects this semester were the beautiful oops, pure contour hands, and the facial features study. I liked the beautiful oops project that we did towards the beginning of the class. For that I used ink and paint to create different colored fireworks. I liked the simplicity of the design I chose and the mediums I used were easy to work with and some of my prefered materials. Another one of my favorite projects was the pure contour hands project. One of the many things that I like to draw are hands so this project made me very excited to do. I got the idea for the background from my boyfriend's eyes, which are a blueish gray. I also liked doing the facial features study in order to improve my skills. This projected helped me learn more about shading and blending. I think it helped me improve my skills in this area a lot and got me interested in drawing different body parts. The projects that I struggled with were the stars and stripes project and the donate life project. With the stars and stripes project it was hard to come up with a starting idea. Once I had one I wanted to try a new medium so I chose chalk, but it turned out to be one of the harder materials to control. It was hard to keep the paper clean in places where I didn't want any chalk. Then for the donate life project I felt I had a good concept, but poor time management and effort. I left this project till the last minute and made many mistakes because of it. I learned what I liked and didn't like in terms of materials and what I was drawing. I feel I improved in my skills and new techniques as well as different perspectives and materials. I want to continue drawing and creating art into the future and improve on all of my skills such as getting better at creating tiny details and getting bolder in my projects.
