Artist Inspired

For the last project of the semester we were tasked with finding an artist whose style we liked. I found a a ceramics artist named Mark Stafford and the collection he did called WHITE MALE. I was drawn to the structure and forms of these pieces as well as the simplicity of the faces. I got the idea to create a piece like his, but instead of doing male anatomy I would do females. I used the coil technique from a couple projects ago to build up my structure and body of the figure. It was hard to keep the proportions of my figure in check and I feel the finished product doesn't resemble the true anatomy of a women. I recreated the iconic face on my figure in order to tie it to Mark Stafford's project. I didn't use any glazes to make sure my piece came out looking like the reference figure.
