Beautiful Oops

Building Blocks

7" x 10"

Watercolor & Ink

The beautiful oops project starts with a premade splotch of ink on the paper. From this blotch we are supposed to create the image that comes to mind. For my piece I made the ink into the arm of a multi-colored robot. I chose to create these sleek robots as they reminded me of what the future may look like.

First I sketched out the different pieces of the robots and tried to based the shapes around human anatomy. Once they were shaped to my liking, I started to fill in the spaces with watercolor. I chose this medium because it was easier for me to manipulate. Knowing this I decided to add a fade to all the shapes getting one side to be lighter than the other. In order to do this I started with a light wash of the color I chose and slowly adding more layers with less water.
