As the class got introduced to the donate life project, I knew I wanted to have something that was more fun and encouraging than dark a scary. When I was thinking of ideas before I fell asleep I thought of the idea that zombie's don't have viable organs as they are diseased, but normal people don't have that problem. I thought this would be more of a funny approach to something that is more of a serious discussion. This piece also had a better underlying theme to go with the picture than some of my other ideas. I felt this project would do better with acrylic paint as it'll get me a ridher pigment and it's easier for me to blend. With my slogan of "Donate organs and tissue... unless you're a zombie" I wanted to connect it with my picture so I sketched out a little zombie in the middle of my canvas. Then I spaced out my wording to see how I wanted the piece to look. I started the piece by painting the Zombie, his clothes and his skin with many layers of different color. Then I painted the background a light pink/light purple mix. This turned out to look more like a sunset which I enjoy as a "pretty" apocalypse.
The layers of different values/shades of paint over all of the canvas give a texture to the piece. While spacing my words I thought about the balance between each side of the canvas and tried to even it out as much as possible. Because green and red are contrasting colors they both stand out against the background and make the Zombie the focal point of the piece.
