Recognition Characters

Pointed, hard tail without finnage; thin body, with head diameter larger than that of body; spots on the sides are the same diameter as eyes.

Color

Dark gray overall with disitinctive yellow-white spots; black rings on the head.

Habitat & Depth

Inhabits areas with deep sand.

Behavior & Notes

Burrows into the sander for shelter, nocturnal feeder sometimes seen at the surface during the night.
