Shell length: 2.5-6cm (1-2.25")
Recognition Characters
Broadly ovate and heavy with a spire less than half of the shell length. Body whorl is convex with about 12 spiral cords. Spiral cords are crossed by equidistant, narrow axial riblets that form beads on cords and result in latticed sculpture. Columella has two strong ridges, the upper one is larger. Interior of the outer lip is grooved with strong, even ridges.
Color
Yellowish-white to white with reddish-brown axial or spiral splotches.
Habitat & Depth
Sand, turtle grass beds. To 25m depth.
Distribution at GRNMS
Rare. Maybe found on sandy substrates near hard bottom areas.
Geographic Range
North Carolina west to Texas and south to Brazil
