Recognition Characters
Hydrocaulus monosiphonic, unbranched, hydrocladia alternate. Internodes thecate with internal septa. Hydrothecae cone-shaped, margin distinct with 9 teeth.

Attach to sargassum and other seaweeds.
Distribution at GRNMS
Locally abundant when found. Attach to a variety of substrates and seaweeds, especially Sargassum.
Geographic Range
North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico. Shallow water to 500m
