Recognition Characters
Moderately raised shell with a dumbbell shaped hole is slightly in front of the centrally located apex. Base is broadly oval. Exterior of shell has many rough, radial ribs; every fourth rib is larger.
Color
Exterior of shell is whitish grey. Interior is white.
Habitat & Depth
Attach to rocks, pilings, and other hard substrates.

Behavior & Notes
The elongate 2-lobed or dumbbell-shaped hole found in many species of Diodora is the source of the keyhole limpet name.
