Recognition Characters
Older colonies consist of erect bushy tufts while younger ones are flabellate to cup-shaped. Microscopically, avicularia with decurved beaks are present on both inner and outer series of zooids. Ovicells are raised and globular, and aligned with the principal axis of the branch.
