Recognition Characters

This uncharacteristic barnacle bores into other calcareous organisms. It is very small and its presence is only indicated by small elliptical slits at the aperture of the barnacle.

Habitat & Depth

Forms chambers in the shells of mollusks, barnacles, calcareous bryozoans, serpulid tube worms, and red calcareous algae.

Distribution at GRNMS

Unknown. May be associated with Oculina corals, mollusks, or bryozoans.

Geographic Range

Southeast coast of United States, parts of Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico
