Size
Colony height: 1mm. Colony width: 10cm (4"). Zooecia length: to 0.66mm. Zoociea width: to 0.55mm.
Recognition Characters
Encrusting. Usually several layers thick, new layers growing over old dead ones, can be up to 20 layers thick. Zooecia are quadrangular or squarish but can be variable. Zooecia are arranged radially about ancenstrula. The aperture is rounded, with a rounded sinus on the proximal border. A single spine is located below aperture.
Color
White, pale reddish-orange to dull red
Habitat & Depth
Encrusts rocks, shells, pilings, worm tubes, seaweed stalks. Shallow water environments.
