Recognition Characters
Plume shaped, small branching hydroid. Polyps regularly spaced along pedicels. Pedicels are short but varying somewhat in length. Pedicels are strongly annulated having a spiral arrangement. Hydrothecae large, with a flaring rim.

Habitat & Depth
Attach directly to sargassum and rocky reefs and outcroppings.
Distribution at GRNMS
Common. Found attached to other organisms or rocks.
Geographic Range
North Carolina south to Florida. Western Gulf of Mexico. Bermuda.
