Recognition Characters
Carapace and abdomen covered with rather stiff, plumose hairs. Carapace is about as wide as deep and very little compressed anteriorly. Rostrum has 9 to 13 teeth. Abdomen has segments 3-6 carinate dorsally; carina of segment 4 and 5 cleft at posterior of margin. Telson is longer than sixth segment.
Color
Body is mottled with spidery pinkish-red chromatophores overall on white to cream background. Front legs speckled with yellow chromatophores while back legs and pleopods are speckled with white chromatophores.
Habitat & Depth
Mud, sand, gravel, broken shell and rock, coral reefs and associated with algae. Surface to 329m.
