Shell length: 2.5-5cm (1-2")
Recognition Characters
Tall-spired, pointed shell. Shell is slender and elongate. Whorls are numerous with several major beaded, spiral cords and with very fine, granulated threads between major cords. Aperture is elongately ovate with a constricted extension above and a short canal at the base.

White, spotted with brown or reddish brown
Habitat & Depth
Rocky, hard bottoms and sandy substrates. To 30m.
Distribution at GRNMS
Common. Can be found on variety of substrates and at the base of sponges, and bushy bryozoans and hydroids.
Geographic Range
North Carolina south to Brazil. Gulf coast to Texas and West Indies
