Recognition Characters
Colonies stolonal creeping over back of hydrocaulus of hydroid substrate. Hydrorhiza wrinkled to fairly smooth. Hydrothecae arise from extremely short pedicels. Hydrothecae cornucopia-shaped with smooth walls. Hydranth has 14 tentacles.

Distribution at GRNMS
May be common but unnoticeable because of small size. Attached to other hydroids such as Dynamena quadridentata or Sertularia sp..

Wide Circumtropical distribution. Eastern and Western Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans
Behavior & Notes
H. dyssymetra is mostly epiphytic on other species of hydroids.
