Recognition Characters

Has three small, axial ribs between the larger, rounded varices. Interior of aperture grooved on outside and smooth on inside. Canal is long and slender.

Color

Variable. Differing shades of cream, pink, orange, or red.

Habitat & Depth

Sandy substrates. To 25m depth.

Distribution at GRNMS

Rare. More common on shallower reefs. May be more abundant on sandy bottoms adjacent to reef.

Geographic Range

South Carolina south to Bahamas.
