Recognition Characters
Medium to large sized sea cucumber. Five conspicuous, hard, white teeth surround anus. Podia on back are small and knobby. Skin is thick and leathery. Tube feet are in 3 bands ventrally scattered dorsally as papillae.
Color
Mottled yellow-brown to mixed brown and cream.
Habitat & Depth
Sandy or soft sediment bottoms and seagrass beds. To 25m.
Distribution at GRNMS
Occasional. Found on sandy bottoms surrounding ledges.
Geographic Range
North Carolina south to the Caribbean. Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda
