Has a dark spot under the second dorsal fin as well as on the upper half of the peduncle before the caudal fin; may sometimes have a spot on operculum.

Color

Red to tannish-red or pale pink; usually two white lines on the eyes; fins sometimes have dark tips

Inhabitat reef areas, usually around relief or under sessile animals; found from 2-1300 feet
