Recognition Characters
Shell is small and roughly triangular with 15-18 strong, rounded, beaded radial ribs. Shell is inflated, thick, and strongly scalloped along margin. Umbones are large, in front of center.
Color
Exterior yellowish white to mostly white sometimes with a few reddish-brown spots. Interior white, tinged with reddish- or purplish-brown.
Habitat & Depth
On sand and rubble. May also attach to rocks and rocky rubble. To 15m.
Distribution at GRNMS
May be common but unnoticeable because of small size.
Geographic Range
North Carolina south to the Florida Keys
