Size

Carapace length (including rostrum): 6cm (2.5") Carapace width: 2.5cm (1")

Recognition Characters

Carapace triangular shaped with long rostrum. Legs are long and slender.

Color

Carapace is banded dorsally with stripes of light and dark brown. Legs are reddish. Tips of claws are bluish -purple.

Habitat & Depth

Inhabit reefs and rocky outcroppings and variety of habitats. Shallow water to 188m.

Distribution at GRNMS

Abundant.

Geographic Range

North to North Carolina, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Gulf of Mexico and Bermuda
