Annie Roberts - Women's Royal Air Force

Member, 2663, 4th Training Depot Squadron. Died, aged 20, of pneumonia on 12 November 1918.

Enrolled in the WRAF on 14 May 1918 and firstly employed at the 37th Wing HQ at Ledsham, Little Sutton, Chester. At the time she was living with her mother at 37 Lightfoot Street, Hoole, Chester. The 4th Training Depot Squadron was based at Hooton Hall, Cheshire. It was established in 1917 as a training aerodrome for Royal Flying Corps fighter pilots. Daughter of Mrs Ann Roberts of 44 Strand Crescent, Holywell.

In 1911 she lived at 6 Ponthwfa Terrace, Holyhead, aged 13 with her parents Hugh (49) and Ann Maud Roberts (nee Williams) (47). At this time the only other sibling living at the address was her brother Hughie (19), a Farm Labourer. Other siblings include John (b. about 1888) and Maggie (b. about 1894). Her father was employed as an Insurance Agent.
