Richard Thomas, Deck Boy

Richard Thomas, Deck Boy, Mercantile Marine, HMHS Anglia. Lost at sea due to enemy action, age 16 on 17 November 1915.

In 1911 the family lived at 1 Brighton Terrace, Holyhead and comprised Margaret Thomas (nee Owen) (37), born in Amlwch; Robert John Thomas (15), an Grocer's Errand Boy; Richard Thomas (11); Margaret Thomas (10); Ellen Thomas (6); Lissie Hughes (4), a niece;John Owens (45), brother, an invalid from Amlwch. In 1901 the family had lived at 1 West Terrace, Llaingoch.

His mother was later to live at 57 London Road, Holyhead.

Richard's father was also named Richard Thomas. He is assumed that he was away at sea at the time of the Census. He was in the RNR and lost his life whilst serving on HMS Queen Mary at the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916.
