John Lewis, Fireman

John Lewis, Fireman, Mercantile Marine, HMHS Anglia. Lost at sea due to enemy action, age 41, on 17 November 1915.

In 1911 he lived at 2 Hawthorne Terrace, aged 38, with his wife, Grace Lewis (36) (nee Jones), born at Holyhead. He was born at Valley, Anglesey. At this time they had a daughter, Catherine (3 months). Also at the house was John's father, John Lewis (64), a widower, employed as a Quarry Miner and previously a Farmer. Earlier in 1901 the couple shared a house at 157, St. John's Road, Bootle, Lancashire with his brother Owen Lewis (25), and Robert J Thomas (27), a cousin. All men were employed as General Labourers. John and Grace were married at St. David's Church, Liverpool on 5 March, 1899. Grace was the daughter of Owen Jones, a Mason.

His wife later lived at 17 Millbank Terrace, Holyhead.
