Alfred Jones/Wallace, Steward, Mercantile Marine, HMHS Anglia. Lost at sea due to enemy action, aged 31, on 17 November 1915.
Born at Liverpool on 14 April 1884. He was the son of George and Jane Wallace (nee Jones). His mother married John Jones at Liverpool in 1886. He served as Jones. Stepbrother of Ethel Jones of Berw Mill Shop, Gaerwen, Anglesey.Â
Believed to have lived at 55 Foundry Street, Holyhead.
Records show that he joined the LNWR in August 1900, aged about 16. He was on active service with them until 24 April 1915 when he joined HMHS Anglia.
He was awarded the Mercantile Medal and British War Medal.
Commemorated at Tower Memorial. Also commemorated on the Gaerwen War Memorial, Anglesey.
