Robert James Stuart, Fireman

Robert James Stuart, Fireman, Mercantile Marine, HMHS Anglia. Lost at sea due to enemy action, age about 33, on 17 November 1915.

He was born at Holyhead to William and Catherine Stuart (nee Samuels). His parents married in Anglesey in 1880. In 1891 the family lived at 19 Wynne Street, the home of Catherine's mother, Mary Samuel(69). She was a lodging house keeper. The family remained at this address until at least 1911 and then comprised - Catherine Stuart (widow) (51); William (32), a Carriage Cleaner (LNWR); Robert (29), a Goods Porter (LNWR); Maggie Ann (24); James (22), a General Labourer; Mary Ellen (18), a Domestic Servant; Catherine (17), a Domestic Servant; George (16), a Domestic Servant and Albert (11). Also at the house was a visitor, Robert Hughes (52), a Hawker.

His body was not recovered for burial. Commemorated on Tower Hill Memorial.
