Thomas Robert Jones, Leading Stoker

Thomas Robert Jones, Leading Stoker, Mercantile Marine Reserve, HMS Tara. Lost at sea as a result of enemy action, age about 38, on 5 November 1915 in the Mediterranean Sea.

Born at Holyhead he was the huband of Elizabeth C Jones (nee Williams). They married at Holyhead in 1886. His wife originated from Llanddeusant, Anglesey. In 1911 the family lived at 25 Cybi Place, Holyhead and comprised Elizabeth Jones (46), Lizzie Jones (20), Annie M Jones (18), Owen A Jones (7). Also at the house were two visitors - Eliza Jones (60) and Maggie Jones (28) born in Oldham. There was also a Boarder, Edward F Braymar (39), a Ships Painter employed by the LNWR from Bristol. Thomas Robert Jones was at Dublin Harbour as a crew member on a cross channel ship.

Awarded the Mercantile Marine Medal, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
