Meredith Williams, Second Steward

Meredith Williams, Second Steward, Mercantile Marine, HMHS Anglia. Lost at sea due to enemy action, age 28, on 17 November 1915.

He was born at Everton, Liverpool and educated at the National School, Holyhead. In 1901 the family lived at 57 Foundry Street, Holyhead. His mother, Margaret Williams (47) was recorded as head of the household. The children included Meredith Williams (13), Richard John Williams (7) and Margaret Elizabeth Williams (4).

In 1911 the family moved to a larger house at 31 Blackbridge, Holyhead. His father, William Williams (68) was then present and employed as a Mariner for the LNWR. Another sibling, William Robert Williams (19) was also living at this address and employed as a Ship's Steward. The family later lived at 32 Blackbridge, Holyhead.
