Lewis David Hughes, Engineer's Steward/Boy

Lewis David Hughes, Engineer's Steward/Boy, Mercantile Marine, HMHS Anglia. Lost at sea due to enemy action, aged 17, on 17 November 1915.

In 1911 he lived with his family at 9 Mountain View, Holyhead. It was a large family and comprised his Father, Robert Hughes (46) employed as a Dock Labourer but previously was a Ship's Fireman; his Mother, Elizabeth (45); Lizzie Catherine (20), a House Maid; Robert (19) a Cattle Feeder; Owen John (17) a Cattle Porter; Maggie (14), Lewis (12); Hannah (10); Thomas (11); Annie May (7) and Hughie (5).

It was recorded that " Captain Manning spoke in very high terms of his usefulness".
