Owen Smith, Carpenter

Owen Smith, Carpenter, Mercantile Marine, SS Connemara, died on 3 November 1916, aged 52, due to a collision at sea.

Believed to have been born at Newborough, Anglesey. In 1911 he lived at 7 Gilbert Street, Holyhead with his wife Ellen. He was then employed as a Building Joiner. At the time of his death his son, Thomas, was serving in the Royal Anglesey Royal Engineers at the front.

Compensation of £3 a month was paid to his wife. She died in 1940 aged 75 and is buried with her husband.

His body was recovered and buried at Maeshyfryd Cemetery, Holyhead - Section 2, Grave 1518.
