Big Idea:

Learn to work in cooperative teams by identifying how to resolve conflicts, space awareness, nutrition, and safety.

Kindergarten:

K.5A: use equipment and space properly
K.5B: know and apply safety practices associated with physical activity such as not pushing in line and drinking water during activity
K.7B: work in a group setting in cooperation with others
K.7C: share space and equipment with others

1st Grade

1.5A: use equipment and space safely and properly
1.7A: follow directions and apply safe movement practices
1.7B: interact, cooperate, and respect others
1.7C: resolve conflicts in socially acceptable ways such as talking and asking the teacher for help

2nd Grade

2.5A: use equipment and space safely and properly
2.7A: display good sportsmanship
2.7B: treat others with respect during play

3rd Grade

K.4C: state that rest and sleep are important in caring for the body
K.5B: know and apply safety practices associated with physical activity such as not pushing in line and drinking water during activity

1st Grade

1.4A: distinguish between active and inactive lifestyles
1.4C: describe how muscles and bones work together to produce movement
1.5B: describe the importance of protective equipment in preventing injury such as helmets, elbow/knee pads, wrist guards, proper shoes, and clothing

2nd Grade

2.4A: identify how regular physical activity strengthens the heart, lungs, and muscular system
2.4C: identify foods that enhance a healthy heart
2.5B: select and use appropriate protective equipment in preventing injuries such as helmets, elbow/knee pads, wrist guards, proper shoes, and clothing

3rd Grade

3.4A: describe the long term effects of physical activity on the heart
3.4C: identify foods that increase or reduce bodily functions
3.5B: select and use proper attire that promotes participation and prevents injury

4th Grade

4.4A: describe the effects of exercise on heart rate through the use of manual pulse checking or heart rate monitors
4.4C: identify methods for measuring cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility
4.5B: select and use proper attire that promotes participation and prevents injury
