Big Idea:

• Students will research a past event in US History; then interview a veteran, visit a memorial, attend a service, etc that directly connects to your researched topic.
• Students will be able to prepare a presentation on the event including your library research and individual research.
• Students will be able to identify the cause and effect of the chosen historical event.

SC4 The course requires students to produce one or more expository writing assignments. Topics should be based on readings representing a wide variety of prose styles and genres and might include such topics as public policies, popular culture, and personal experiences.

• Choose one of the following: Interview a veteran, visit a memorial, attend a ceremony, etc that directly connects to your researched topic.
• Prepare a presentation on the event including your library research and individual research.
• Write a poem, song, or essay to depict the event

Essential Questions:

• What was the cause of the event?
• What are the effects of the event? (on policy, social issues, historical events)
• How can you depict the event in poetry, prose, or a presentation?
