Mitosis

Origins

The origin of the term "mitosis" when used in the lab context is quite ambiguous, as the term itself was thrown around ever since the first moments of the server to refer to a multitude of things. However, the first instance of what would be thought of as the modern definition of mitosis occurred on May 1st, 2020, where user Lunar took a portrait of Duki Luki and mirrored it with the caption "mitosis" (seen in fig. 1). After many more multiplications and defiant actions against God, we end up with fig. 2. During one of the different phases of mitosis, Lunar pointed out a screenshot of a particular specimen looking like a "nipple nose" before saying in bold italicized letters "Duki Luki Nipple Nose Meat Club" (for reference, the server at the time was named "Duki Luki Meat Club"). After that user Custy commented "Duki Luki Mitosis Lab", and soon the server was renamed that after Hydria confirmed.

Continued Experimentation

These mitosis experiments continued daily for about a week or so, with Lunar committing atrocities on a different Dishonored character every day. I would hunt down each sample but I don't want to die trying. Some mitosis experiments led to new emotes (dood and NOOT), while others ended up as memes/jokes (Martin flesh tornado). There have been some variations as well as different people attempted their own mitosis experiments (see also: crungling).

For those who yearn for their own experimenting, the application used to create such monstrosities is called PicsArt (available for both Apple and Android). Through the Distort filters in the Effects tab, you too can create horrible amalgamations to your heart's content.
