Basically it’s like a roaring 20s thingy, with jazz noir and murder mysteries (still with the main Dishonored story happening)
I haven’t thought much about the story and stuff, but i think you get the idea (think of uh,,, Dishonored, Taxi Driver, Reservoir Dogs, Blacksad and The Gentlemen (?) all mixed up). Anyways. Dishonored am i right. Jess dies, Corvo goes to prison, breaks out 6 months later, meets the Loyalists, you know the drill.
I think Dunwall would be something like 20s Chicago?? Crime happening everywhere but there’s still something of cool vibes to it???
hm sam taxi driver? the hound pits would be like a speakeasy kinda thing? Random thot but the courtesans at the cat are flapper dancers send tweet. I was just about to suggest that the loyalists meet in a speakeasy too, that would be really cool. If the Boyle's are there, they would totally throw Great Gatsby-esque extravagant parties
I also think that. The City Watch wouldn’t do shit so the street gangs just go apeass. slackjaw would fit frighteningly well into this au
The gangs are all much larger and more organized than their DH equivalent. The Whalers have a different vibe, because they don't deal with the usual range of profitable trade, they really specialize in murder and blackmail. They don't deal with the usual turf war normal gangs have to deal with (in fact nobody's really sure where they're holed up). Like I don't think the Whalers would be seen as "more powerful"? But as a completely different class of organization.
Even though all the other gangs use guns and stuff, the Whalers mostly stick to blades because stealth. They can get away with it because of the Mark. (like I know silencers exist but they're not nearly as efficient as movies would have you think). Which makes their murders very distinctive because literally everyone else use guns. Maybe sometimes there's a desperate knife fight but it's always messy. Clean and professional kill with a bladed weapon? That's the Whlaers.
IH SHIT if Slackjaw’s fitting to this au, why not make the Bottle Street Gang like town’s most “powerful” mafia group or something. the gangs have much more influence, they have political reach and the Watch corrupted above and beyond the local patrols.
Gang leader meetings. I have no idea how that'd work I just like the idea of all the DH gang/criminal leaders sitting around a table and trying to have a civil discussion. You have Slackjaw, Lizzy and Hat as the main core. Teague Martin is the Abbey's envoy. Some corrupt police officer. Daud sometimes drops by if there's a topic of particular interest to him, but it's rare, and he never takes side. He always sends a Whaler to listen in though.
What if instead of Samuel, who is not involved with the Loyalists, Martin or Havelock poisons Corvo and he just dies. The story doesn’t have a “good” or “bad” ending. It just ends with Corvo getting killed, as things in Dunwall only get worse and worse.
Samuel would only be a taxi driver, takes Corvo to where he needs to be. They don’t interact much other than a “good evening, sir. Where to?”, sometimes Samuel starts to tell Corvo some stories but it doesn’t get really far from that, you know
He doesn’t know about how dangerous Corvo’s business is. He just assumes he’s maybe a retired cop, and when he reads the newspaper and discovers about the serial killing Corvo did (as in the game, first Campbell then the Pendletwins and so it goes) and how he died, and just sits on the driver’s seat of his cab. Thinking. Of how much he’s “helped” that dirty criminal. How dumb and innocent he was, to never think of reporting to the Watch about how suspicious Corvo acted, etc.
God what if maybe Emily was just abducted and never found? Campbell didn’t keep his blackmail journal with himself? When he heard about Corvo getting out of prison, he got paranoid and got rid of the journal, already knowing Corvo would give anything to know where Emily was? So like someone tells Curnow that Campbell was plotting to kill him, and he just kills Campbell instead not knowing about how important his secrets were to Corvo
Corvo would string up every last corrupt politician he knows of (and he knows a lot) until he finds Emily? Somehow I feel like Hiram would spill the beans after a broken finger or two. Shits but it still wouldn’t change much since Corvo dies almost right after he gets to know how to find her. He does murder his way through, gets the info out of Hiram but gets killed immediately after.
Oh shit the Loyalists are a political party and Havelock is running to become president (to make this idea work it would have to change the Isles from empire to a common country) or something, if you get what i mean?? They helped Corvo with his killing just get one more vote
what role would the Outsider have? What if uh maybe him and Corvo exchanged letters instead of him going to the shrines? He only saw the Outsider for real only once, when he received his mark. After that, no other sign of him, only a few letters, comments on the choices Corvo made. I’m thinking of something either like that or he just doesn’t exist, Corvo doesn’t receive any powers and never even heard of the Outsider
