Blue: its kinda inch resting that ramsey’s motivation isn't that "im poor and aristocracy is bad therefore i want to overthrow the empress in the hope of a better ruler" but more "boohoo my family was rich and now they aren't i wanna be upper class again *sad baby whining*"
Potes: it's cause ramsey's a little bitch
but maybe it could've been used to highlight some contrast or similarities between emily and ramsey cause what she's just done is lost her wealth and status and then proceeds to work her way through karnaca to get it back. and potentially does Bad Things like Ramsey mighta done. the only difference is that emily isn't a racist and she's cool and doesn't suck
Blue: i found it stuck out bc like, in dh1 its framed that the aristocracy is Bad and civilians dislike. but here we have a man who’s been at the bottom and wants to get back t that status… and the way he says things too
Tal: I feel like there's also something to be said over whether or not Emily's actions were justified regardless of the fact that they were based around imperial power
like if emily didn't take the throne back, delilah would have just kept it and g-d knows she wouldn't let go of her imperial power
Eels: I think with Ramsey it goes to show how class status isn't just about how much money you actually have at a certain time, it's also about your mindset and worldview about where you belong regardless of if you've fallen on hard times. Ramsey's family lost status, but he still feels a right to have it back and that's what makes him dangerous. Aristocracy's defining trait in this instance isn't money, it's dickishness and what you consider your "right place" to be so I think he still fits into that model that DH1 set up in many ways
