Description:
Eels and I were talking about music stuff and how opera is a Thing in Dishonored, somehow led to the idea of the Young Prince of Tyvia being adapted into an opera, after all it just REEKS of drama and theatre.
It's quite popular in Serkonos, and Stilton and Theodanis went to see it a lot and experience gay feelings, but it's also just lovely to think of them sitting in an opera box, maybe subtlely holding hands and enjoying the opera. Stilton afterwards always ends up humming the songs under his breath for a week as he recalls how much he enjoyed being with Theo.
When Theodanis died, he'll play an audiograph with a recording of some of the songs just to feel smth, and he just has a lot of Emotions tied to the opera.
When they can, for any variety of reasons, Stilton and Theodanis will link their arms as they walk. They'll pick a destination, or even just decide to wander aimlessly, arm in arm, lost in their own little world as much as they can be.
Often they'll be engrossed in conversation while they walk. Maybe Stilton tells Theodanis about the latest events in the mines, or his newest ideas to improve conditions for the miners, or maybe Theodanis will talk about his day and the decisions he's made. Other times they'll walk in silence, just enjoying being close and in one another's company.
Other times, still, the two will pick somewhere that they can enjoy a nice view of the city, or of the water, or something, and they'll just walk together. Just enjoying their time together.
Them walking through a garden and Theodanis being dramatic and picking a rose for Stilton, only to prick his finger. Okay but Stilton bandaging Theo's pricked finger ;-;. he give it little kiss better.
After Theo manages to pick his finger on the rose, it results in an awkward shuffle to manage both the rose and the process of bandaging Theo's finger (which Stilton insisted upon despiteany potential protest). When that's done, the two can't help but laugh at themselves when they fully process what just happened. Afterwards it turns into a quiet moment together in the garden, just enjoying each other's presence once more.
The first time there's a serious mine accident (a collapse, something broke, etc. I don't really know how a mine works) and Stilton happens to be in the mines that day, Theodanis feels his world shift with the fear for his safety. Theo had duties to attend to that day, but he drops them all with barely a second thought to find the fastest method of travel to the mine in question. Perhaps before he sets out he gets help grabbing anything from the palace that could potentially be helpful: water, food, maybe even extra blankets/linens.
Upon arriving, Theodanis is acutely aware that there's little he can do to help. He does his best to stay out of the way and be unobtrusive; Theo doesn't want the societal expectation of formality around the duke to be the reason someone doesn't get rescued. His improvised supplies likely turn out to be at least moderately helpful, but it's the thought itself that's the most touching to those involved.
When Stilton himself makes it out of the mine safely, bar maybe a few minor injuries, it takes no time at all for Theodanis to abandon his vow to stay unobtrusive. Stilton would probably have insisted on getting the others out first anyways, so he wasn't terribly in the way. Theo pulls Stilton into a tight hug as soon as he reaches the other man, letting go only to look him over for any obvious injuries. He doesn't tell Stilton just how afraid he was of losing him, that's for another time, but the sentiment is conveyed just as well when he finds the chance to pull Stilton into another hug.
