Au where Corvo takes Daud with him after the flooded district to help him rescue emily, as penance or something idk exactly, and somehow it evolves into the whalers being turned into an elite guard for emily and all of them know about Delilah so they are not so much prepared but they’re at least aware of her when she shows up at the beginning of Dh2.
given that they have a spymaster whose main focus is being spymaster, not a split position between spymaster and proctector, maybe daud woulda worked out that there's some hinky shit going down in serkonos that needs to be stopped. Since daud would be a super competent spymaster.
some stuff are spotted but some others still fly under the radar? They would probably investigate Stilton's case, Breanna taking over the Conservatory and Addermire being closed, but I could get it if they ignored Jindosh and the Crown Killer (if they don't make the link with Addermire). Basically the Coup would still be possible but they would have to be much more low-key with their preparations, and Serkonos would be in a better state overall
Daud being alive and working with the empress is not known. Em and Corvo instated him as Spymaster but publicly went "yes we have a spymaster no we're not making them a public figure with a lot of political influence because look what happened last time". spymaster daud/whalers being completely underground i.e. no one knows who they are bar corvo but they serve the crown. Absolute shadow organization
as far as the public opinion is concerned, the Whalers are still active as assassins. Because 1) they didn't want to leave the position open for a new gang to take and 2) if they keep getting assassination contracts it facilitates the spy job. And if it threatens the Crown they go arrest the client. Otherwise, sometimes they refuse the contract... but sometimes they execute it. Gotta keep up appearances, after all. (They do try to low chaos their ways out of most of them though. Lots of people Fedexed to Tyvia.)
he stays in the shadows and is never really seen so Delilah is shocked to see him getting emily to safety.
Delilah arrives for her coup and Daud is like "lol nope" and Delilah goes FFS. BITCH. Imagine some dude sends you in the void and you manage to escape after 12 years and you restart your projects and the SAME DUDE PUTS A SERIOUS DENT IN YOUR PLANS. She goes absolutely feral once she sees that its him fucking with everything.
Delilah invades the throne room, only to find everything's been set up to trounce her then and there. Daud walks into view like
somewhere in the void, the outsider is watching this and munching on void popcorn
the coup starts the same but go sideway as the Whalers attack, but they still have to retreat because Delilah is immortal + Clockwork soldiers are a force to be reckoned with. The whalers take out all the guards as Daud and Emily escape and they take a few of them with them as they head to karnaca.
corvo still gets depowered and captured. they manage to save alexi with daud's help.
Billie meeting daud again on the dreadful wale. Daud and Emily get to the harbor, Daud yeets Emily to the Wale before transversing there, and they turn around to find billie looking at them like 8|
Billie immediately goes into a fucking panic attack. You know how nervous she was at seeing him again when she was prepared to find him. Now however she completely blindsided. As well as extremely confused as to why he's working with Emily.
They both have no idea what the other has been doing for the past 15 years. So they’re both a bit freaked out. But on the plus side emily gets a full run down as to who “meagan foster” is pretty quickly
On the other hand there would be a whole new awkward aspect in Billie and Daud's relationship, as last time they saw each others they were going attack. kill. on the nobility, and in DH2 Billie is still Not Fond of nobles and meanwhile here Daud is literally working for the Crown.
It's painful for Emily because she has to see Billie reconnect with her father figure while she just lost Corvo. Alternatively emily seeing daud as a father figure for billie makes the whole situation a bit softer, like she sees another perspective of the man who killed her mother.
its a bit like the dlcs where emily gets help from the whalers throughout karnaca as they have info and supplies.
Em gets an Arcane Bond. NOW THAT EMILY HAS THE MARK SHE CAN NOW RECRUIT PEOPLE INTO HER OWN DIVISION OF WHALERS. She recruits people from karnaca to join her cause and overthrow delilah and the duke
THAT MEAN THAT DAUD AND SOKOLOV MEET AGAIN ON THE DREADFUL WALE. it depends if they had met again previously as Daud is Spymaster, but provided they haven't.
In the Clockwork Mansion Emily goes to kick Jindosh's ass while Daud goes to get Sokolov.
They both get drunk and complain about the kids of today moving too fast for them
Emily makes a deal with the body double of the duke as Daud goes off on a monologue to the people of karnaca through the announcement system because this is the first time hes gotten to monologue in months
some Whalers in Dunwall (who either weren't in the Tower at the time or managed to escape) start some kind of resistance so things in Dunwall are not as shitty as they are in canon when Em returns. When you finally get there after everything there are people rioting in the streets and bodies everywhere. Both civilians, whalers and witches

Daud, drunk as fuck: So you kill one Empress and you're the worst but then you kill a second Empress and suddenly you're a hero? Do you get why I'm confused.
Corvo, stone cold sober: I mean there are a bit more nuances than that but I get if you're not in a state to appreciate them right now.
Daud is absolutely drunk off his ass and starts raving about killing the outsider but the others shut it down pretty quickly
