headcanon that daud being the assassin was ihrams final resort and initiallyhiram actually tried 2 kill jess several times prior during corvos trip away but all failed and all went unnoticed because of Jess' poison immunity.

daud over hears, tells hiram "hey u know the lord protectors been poisoning the empress for years" and hiram uses that against corvo. gets corvo out of the way, leaving jess exposed.... and it makes corvos path back to the top even harder,, emily doesnt trust corvo. "you poisoned my mother! how could you!" no one listens as corvo tries to explain the whole immunity thing
