Hmmm I've been thinking about this since I was writing last night, but I like the idea that Corvo writes/likes to write poetry. Like he is usually best writing in Serkonan but he took a while to learn Gristolian and write poetry in Gristolian, and usually he only really writes out of his native language for Jess. When abroad/away at the other Isles he would send Jessamine little bits of poetry he wrote and stuff, and Jess keeps every single one in their secret place behind that fireplace in the tower.
Ahhh I don't think that I had any other things to add except that the phrase "star of my sky" was originally a poem/was a line of a poem that Corvo wrote and it just sort of stuck.
Jess drops a poem of his as she dies. She was reading it before corvo showed up. Imagine if the letter in the void that was in Jess's hands was a poem corvo wrote
what if "when youre near my heart is at peace" was a line corvo wrote. what if he used a lot of heart motifs and the outsider noticed and chose the heart specifically
small moment/thought of pre-dh1 where whenever Jessamine has to go to an important or intense meeting with officials or parliament or smth she just reads a poem of Corvo's and it calms her down and she like, keeps it in a breast pocket, which if it was a poem where Corvo used a lot of heart motifs, quite literally puts it close to her heart. she would probably quote a lot of his writing inconspicuously and corvo would get really embarrased/touched.
I could imagine sometimes when Corvo isn't uber busy with some city watch work and he knows that Jess is gonna have a meeting later, he would like quickly rush to find a pen and paper and write down a quick poem before running to Jessamine and handing it to her while catching his breath
What if like, some of the Heart's cryptic heart lines sometimes aren't just about someone/something, but lines from poems that he wrote in a form of an ironic echo. that would make corvo much more class conscious and environmentally progressive than we are led to believe. Him not only writing about the poverty he experienced in Karnaca but also the poverty and sickness he sees/has seen both prior to Jess's death and in conjunction with the events of the game
I always love the idea of corvo being introspective/a romantic while jess is more critical and to-the-point, so the heart would be a fucked up amalgamation of corvo's beautiful phrasing and jessamine's hard truths.
I really love hc's where corvo is softhearted/eloquent/emotionally intelligent, but doesn't show it to most people and why people like hiram think he's just dumb, and people like samuel think he's a good guy. emotionally intelligent Corvo is so good,,,
UGH probably bc he's a bit of a shit, the Outsider echoing one of the lines from Corvo's poems to him, especially after like he was betrayed in the flooded district or smth.
would it be dope if "there's always a little more innocence left to lose" was a random line corvo wrote, not even for a profound poem, but a random diary entry or something? Like it was just him writing about the weepers he's seen around town or maybe even Emily, but now it's being used to describe HIM agh.
it was a line corvo wrote down to get his thoughts out of the way, maybe in response to something he saw happen as a watch officer, but it struck him that the Outsider chose that line specifically and that corvo remembers that so clearly and it just breaks him
