bitter coworkers/ exes who still have to look after their daughter is great tho. like they pretend to really like each other when billie's around but the second she leaves it's "i will cut your throat" "you too" but also daud WILL protect delilah purely bc that's his kid's mum. And also they're still kinda friends. Like they will plan each other's death but as soon as someone else attack one of them in any way the other is like hold my flower honey imma kick their ass. Lovers to frenemies
For the purpose of messy age shit, delilah and jess are like 5 & 4 ish years older than their actual canons
Delilah's mother is of course Emperor Euhorn's wife, but it's very much a loveless marriage. So uh. Euhorn has some dalliances of course, but Jess’ mum is the only one that ends w a kid. While Jess' mother is still just a kitchen person/ Euhorn's not particularly interested in her, Jess is very much doted on in that way parents are w younger sibs. Delilah doesn't really mind at first, after all, Jess is younger and not even legitimised. And she and Jess are good friends/ sisters yeah.
Delilah's mother dies when she's young, and this makes her resentful of Jess, whose mother is still alive and is still being doted on/ treated almost like a princess -- tho euhorn doesn't go so far to actually treat her like a princess or anything, bc that would be a huge affront to the nobility cause Jess is just a kitchen maid's daughter. But yeah, Delilah feels a little /: abt Jess. (Because it's a roleswap, not a personality swap)
And so Delilah does something (idk what exactly). all she wanted to do was make her father like Jess a little less/ pay more attention to Delilah. She didn't want Euhorn to kick Jess and her mother out the tower at all, and she most certainly didn't expect that to happen. She forgot that Jess wouldn’t actually have the same leeway as the legit princess. Delilah doesn’t see jess again.
Uh and Beatrix is -- unbeknownst to His Majesty -- pregante again. Maybe she tries to say this but he doesn't believe her and biffs her out anyways. And so, like canon, Jess' mother dies in childbirth. Except she does so on the detty streets of Dunwall, not a palace. But like ): bada bing bada boom Jess is alone.
Anyways pulls herself up, manages eventually to get an apprenticeship w sokolov (or would it be piero in this au…?) But w/o the weird shit™. I think there might be a little more of a collective thing for the occult w sokolov here, like Jess' canon? Idk.
She gets marked earlier on (like just after or during her apprenticeship) and this is purely so she can start the brigmore witches earlier on and run into another certain marked individual. Starting up the bw, she has some run-ins with the infamous reaper of dunwall, who hasn’t yet got a gang lol.
so. presumably emily is older, like 17? and please jess is also super alive corvojess are a happy assassin family?? if jess is the leader of the brigmore witches and is on an opposing gang but secretly is ya know with corvo. warring gang leaders in love
corvo Jess enemies is such a cool concept. Like instead of highlighting all the ways they work together, like canon, it would highlight all they ways they didnt. Jess thinks corvo is undermining her operation, corvo thinks Jess and her gang are High and mighty above them, just hits a cord with both of them and fuels the rivalry
but yes corvo & Jess are enemies but they also have so much sexual tension and honestly love each other but like they PRETEND they don’t at all. the rivalry and hating each others guts but then one of them gets HURT and the other fucking Mows Down the Haterz because fuck it no one else gets to threaten you
ok but what if Jessamine & Corvo’s sortof-rivalmance gets more rival-y when corvo unwittingly ruins jess’ revenge on Delilah and also gets depression. bc Jess wanted to kill her or smthn
what if daud gets a whaler mask as tmf and the not-whalers all have skull masks. corvo's people are called the felons. corvo's the only one w a skull mask and the rest have more dh2 em masks & hoods. so he's like the reaper not the knife
genuinely how does emily work. bc if she's a felon that means either a. jess just gave her to corvo like "hey c we have a baby you can keep her" or 2. emily left the brigmore witches to join the felons...and then leaves the felons again when her dad gets depression
emily just spends monday-tues with corvo and wed-fri w jess an they alternate weekends smh. the witches are all her cool aunts and the whalers are like her cousins and other aunts & uncles or smthn
Emily is a felon half the week and a witch the other half and very much insists that Emily attano and Emily from the brigmore witches are NOT the same person at all. one day she goes to the felons but but forgot to take osme of her witch makeup off
Do both factions members “know” about jess and corvo and are just pretending not to or are they genuinely in the dark. probably a mix. witch! jess looks like she doesn't know what subtle means so i think they know. some people have EYES and ARE NOT STUPID and others are just like nah that could never happen! KoD!Corvo also probably doesnt have an ounce of subtlety either. "star of my sky" that man is a romantic at heart and does not know how to subtle
if there are gang leader parleys it must be so painful for the rest of the dunwall gangs to watch them be like "Oh yeah no corvo and i are- we totally hate each other"
A lot of people whose parents live apart get 2 Christmases and 2 birthdays and stuff, Emily in the roleswap au gets 2 arcane bonds instead. also if Jessamine has a summon witch a la summon assassin then corvo and jess can just keep summoning Emily back and forth to give each other messages
idk but i love the outsider just showing up like "that's?? not allowed?? stop". and then marks her to end that discourse jkfdssjk. but he fucks up and she keeps the 2 bonds + her own powers. and she becomes the most chaotic force in dunwall. Her powers are ridiculously unstable because of the magic mix. It can get very powerful and versatile, but sometimes she'll try to transverse and her marks will flicker miserably with a sad fizzling sound. Other times it just causes random explosions. It's 2 marks on the same hand but not quite well-aligned. when she gets her on mark its just three and theyre all badly aligned
oh lol emily accidentally using one of jess' arcane bond powers while with the felons or vice versa and being like "oh wdym you can't do that? haha i guess you're just bad at arcane bond :two_hearts: "

idk what... happens to her during the story... bc she, as consort, would be immediate choice for regent while billie is a baby, ergo has to be kidnapped or dealt w.... maybe daud frees billie AND breanna
Thomas and Geoff swap so Tom is the himbo guard captain that Daud goes on a journey w and saves, and Geoff is Corvo’s lieutenant
corvo AND his sister were kidnapped by whomstever took daud. either corvo & bea managed to escape but were separated & never saw each other again or corvo escaped but bea was killed in their escape or smthn (probably the 2nd, yk, for angst). so he rolls up to dunwall angry as all hell
daud's mum was still some kind of pandyssian "witch" (obvs not actually a witch just knew herbs and shit) + didn't know his dad and corvo's mum was still super religious (+ his dad died in a lumber accident) -- both the same i guess. daud wins the blade verbena and is of course the first non-gristolian royal protector -- nobody really every brings up he's half-pandyssian
but younger corvo getting the mark is more :| bc he remembers his hella religious mum more if u get me. corvo has no idea what happened to his mum but maud probably died at some point after daud got to dunwall which is meh ): or maybe bc she's maud she just Didn't, and lived longer, who knows. Maybe Maud goes missing instead of dying? She had to escape the Overseers or something. Regardless, Daud never saw her again

everyone immediately believes daud killed delilah because they're always chatting shit at each other because their friendship consists of mutual bullying
i'm assuming that there's no big betrayal with emily and corvo it's just "mom, dad has depression can i join your gang" "is he ok?" "can i?" "sure".
Does jess go check up on corvo using an “attack” as an excuse.The entire monologue from delilah on daud’s roof is just jess asking if he’s okay
Daud unfortunately kicks corvo's ass bc this time corvo has depression and daud has the fury of 1000 angry dads. but it's ok bc then corvo shows up at brigmore manor or smthn and long story short corvojess & emily leave their gangs and escape to live in serkonos and they're a family & it's fine
the delilah heart is so much more snarky than jess' heart, still bickers with daud even though she's dead. "Watching you fall off that building has made me wish the reaper did a better job" "i could deal with the target better than that, and i don't even have any arms" "This man smells, but not as bad as you"
Most of the time Daud bickers back, but occasionally it hits him that this isn't Delilah, this is just a figment of what she was, Delilah is dead dead dead DEAD and he breaks into tears
