*cracks knuckles* Welcome to my Ted Talk I will now get angery
The twins were used so much in promotional material, since like out of all the targets they're the most basic in terms of concept. Like with High Overseer Campbell? No player is gonna know what an overseer is before they jump into a game. Burrows and Boyle is another story that is a bit convoluted to understand. But like the twins? Corrupt aristocrats that you need to kill, anyone would know that and are down with that. What makes me mad (I feel like I constantly echo myself) is the lack of representation or lore or ANYTHING that further characterizes them beyond JUST corrupt aristocrats that you need to kill. You don't even have to touch or see them in their mission if you do non-lethal. They have no lore from themselves to even say what their motives are, and like their presence is limited to one mission pretty much, as opposed to the other targets (like with Campbell in his nonlethal you see him later in the Flooded District, you hear burrows over the propaganda speakers, you hear about Sokolov's machines)
One thing Angst and I touched in DMs is that with the dh1 coup crew isn't really characterized beyond just being pure evil, like the thing with the au we're doing we throw headcanons at them to constantly humanize because we can <3. But in the game Campbell and Burrows and the Twins and whatnot are just absolutely evil, nothing good no good bones in their body, and I guess in the game's context and current world situation it makes sense, since the world of Dishonored is very "survival of the fittest" so people are very selfish and evil. I guess it was done to further the point of "eat the rich" but at this point I'm just starved for fave content I tend to make my own depiction of my faves. Very good at derailment, I am.
the fact that the entire game is about choice and you never even give your targets (besides daud) a chance to change makes me ape shit
Like you could’ve literally tried talking to them? Paying them? Threatening them? But no you go to literally the two most extremes
the non lethal is ugh!!! It takes away responsibility from what Corvo is actually doing
He can be like “oh this is not my fault slack jaw is doing it” but it is!!!! This is an awful thing you’re doing and you can’t look away!!!
With the twins especially I wouldn't think that they liked Burrows as a person, they just want the power associated with Burrows, so like finding a way to OVERTHROW that power (I'm quiet sure they weren't blind enough to not see how poorly Burrows is doing) they would be on that
I think it was literally confirmed that they were being paid for their voting block just like then chief. Intercept the payments. Pay them more. Like you don’t have to kill them just maybe throw them in prison for a while.
ok BUT these bitches held his daughter in a brothel for 6 months so he's probably not gonna want to have a chit chat
Idk if that was their decision to keep Em in a BROTHEL specifically or if Campbell/Burrows ordered them to? Idk
i think corvo doesnt view the non lethals as owo they still alive jow LUCKY but rather ok theyve been dealt with. i can move on now. the non lethal is less messy but
That’s a good point during that mission I assumed Corvo was just blinded with rage and fear for Emily, so he didn’t stop to consider all the implications and just went “fuck them”
I think we've touched on how nonlethals aren't meant to be nice, but that they are meant for the overall welfare of the city
I wish we got to like,,, see the mines maybe? Or writing about them? Like literally all we see is them mention it off hand
Like make us see it! Bc they use that to pull the whole “twins bad” card but then we basically know nothing about them
We never really see with our own two eyes if the twins are “bad people” except maybe custis dialogue and Emily being held there. Otherwise we’re just literally going off what other people say
Like Jess would have some stern words about them holding Em I'd think
Emily doesn’t even mention them too much when she spent the most time with them like ?!???? Queen give us smt were they awful?
Literally Em was in there. For 6 months. Afte rthe deaht of her mother. Like wtf she wasn't really impacted by that or have anything to say on that??
I’m trying to remember what she said about the twins and I literally can’t like if she does it’s so off hand? Most of it is about madame prudence which isn’t even a target. Still important but like spread the lore girl
i mean she's probably repressing memories/ doesn't want to talk abt it, heart says as much in the whole "she sees more than she is telling"
Depending on the rooms they're in when you eavesdrops, I think Prudence mentions/alludes to Morgan doing some. Things. and that "Custis is easier to manage" (no he isn't) and will "just talk to a girl" which is pretty funny imo cuz it's almost like a twin switch trope, like from what we see Morgan is the one talking while Custis is being a bitchass
And yeah true, poor Em
