Description:
wyman in the corvo the black and Emily the butcher aus.
both aus are so full of angst w them. Like does wyman decide they can't be with azula-ass emily and try to change her ways??? do they just stand by her side, with the statue of Corvo in sight, thinking this is wrong this is wrong this is wrong. but they love emily so they stay there?? and in that latter case, does emily go crazy and decide that wyman must be about to betray her, like everyone else has
maybe wyman stays because they think they can stop emily from hurting more people. sure she DOES hurt a lot of people, but it's less when Wyman's there... right?
Alternatively, she's so very desperate for wyman to stay with her that wyman can't leave. sure she's nothing like the emily they knew, but she's super all over the place emotionally. as in sometimes she's the rock-hard angry butcher and other times she's like a vulnerable small child. oof emily breaking down in tears (like a young girl crying) and being like "No, no, stay with me, I can't lose you too... I've lost everyone... I can't lose you too"
wyman tries to tell her to free corvo and then she won't be alone bar them and she's all like "No, he wouldn't understand. He wouldn't love me after everything I've done... not like you"
wyman try to say “your mother wouldnt want this of you”. emily very well knows that she had the heart, and she didn't free corvo partly because of how he wouldn't want this. that might just reinforce her fear of losing wyman
corvo the black is a whole other kettle of fish. bc wyman's gonna rejoice at delilah's off the throne but then they hear that corvo is emperor now, not their dear emily. so they probably skeet to dunwall to be like "corvo is emily dead/!??!" and they see her statue.
and tbh this isn't murder angry angry corvo, this is "idc" corvo, more manipulative, so he's probably like yep emily is dead, we can't save her from the statue. bc he's fond of wyman and knows emily wouldn't want him hurting them. bc he would if wyman tried to get emily out of the statue and into the dangerous dangerous world
so wyman probably returns to morley in grief with the impression that emily is dead and corvo's done the right thing by taking the throne, and probably never finds out the truth bc corvo is Good
You dont think they would try to kill corvo out of grief and rage? of course they can't win against corvo, who's pretty much impossible to beat in a swordfight even without his mark, but they're like "you should have saved her!!" and get all angry and what if corvo lets it slip that she is safe now. oh oh and he's fighting like this is nothing while wyman is giving their all to the fight.
corvo doesn't kill them of course, out of love for emily. gives them one chance to get out of the tower and continue their life as it was before else he will not be so merciful next time. so i guess wyman realises that they don't have any other option and leaves. they watch the tower that once meant happiness and love to them get smaller and smaller on the horizon as they head back home
they do just give up, so bereft about emily and they still have some weird respect for corvo. their family all knows that em wasn't gonna be alive when wyman got there (bc why else would corvo take the throne) but they were holding out hope, and then wyman gets back and they see how sad they look and... wyman probs just becomes some shut-in alcoholic
