does corvo like to dance. Opinions?
Yes. Dances are a staple of Serkonan culture, and he left Serkonos late enough that he'd have learnt a bunch of them. I imagine that dances at an Gristolian aristocratic party would be nothing like those, but he'd probably dance with Jess, so also some good memories
Corvo teaches Jess how to dance Serkonan folk dances, but the slow ones, in a cleared-out room of the tower where afternoon light drips gold over old carpets and the dust smells of earth and the warmth of her skin. They both feel the pull to one another, perched on the precipice of something deep and precious and yet achingly ephemeral. They haven't spoken of it. He catches her humming the tunes he plays on his guitar while she's working. He feels as though he's guiding her in the whirling, push-pull steps of their secret dances as he escorts her smoothly through court to her throne, and she smiles at him like she knows it, too. When she finally lays her hand on his cheek and his heart skips with hope and and she kisses him and he melts with devotion, he realizes that this decision is one that the two of them already made a long time ago. They did it without words, spelled out in hops and sways across the floor, and bound by guiding hands.
I have no formal onions outside of him wanting to keep family traditions alive but forgetting most of the dances he grew up with due to living in gristolian high society, emily knows some from very little of what he remembers, but emily would come back to dunwall after the coup knowing more dances, which in turn would make corvo ;_;
He'd have learnt dances from his family so those are memories from home. I like to think that he learnt a few more in his time in the Serkonan Guard (a period of his life we know very little about, but there's nothing indicating it was bad, so Let Corvo Be A Dumbass Young Guard). At first he'd hate the Gristolian dances because they're too codified and restrained, but then Jess asks him for a dance and it becomes a thing they do, in the evening they play an audiograph and dance in Jess's office :). And then he'd teach some to Emily, the same that his mother taught him.
ok i read a little oneshot somewhere where serkonan traditional dances were like Bellydancing and everyone learned it. and there was an event where they had a big entourage of serkonan royalty (possibly luka becoming the duke? not sure), and a bunch of the dancers recognized corvo as being serkonan so they invited him to dance. and he was so HAPPY
