daud HATES SHOES!!! when he can, he is barefoot. unfortunately, lviing in dunwall.. it is often not possible. he would rather his stinky feet were Freeas a child, he would frequently return home after a day playing wihtout his shoes. his mum eventually was like "if u take ur shoes off AT LEAST take them home w you those shits cost money".

like when hes Done Work for the day hes Shoes Off feet OUT.

when hes retired in karnaca hes like. hm. no shoes :).

So he likes to get the dirt in his toes. But dunwall is prone to rats, glass and other rubbish on the streets. Streets icky. that s why he wears shoes in dunwall when hes out.

when hes retired and working w his mum in her shop he draws sandals onto his feet so at least he doesnt look barefoot to customers. he wears his boots in dunwall bc Makes Sense. even in karnaca if he goes out for a while hell wear shoes but for quick trips?? why shoe.

Idk but I feel like he liked to wear sandals with socks. i feel like dauds footwear preferences are:barefoot -> socks -> sandals and socks -> everything else. sandals are good bc u have Freedom but Protection but the bands rubby his lil feet so he goes socks too.

this is the reason he doesnt comment on lizzy not wearing shoes and also why they get along. Bonding over not wearing shoes. The mutual hatred of shoes. Fuels their partnership. Otherwise they'd be tearing each other to bits.
