Au where corvo can give other people the Mark like daud can. But he can’t really control it at first so he shakes sam’s hand or pats cecelia in the shoulder and oops they’re marked

It’s the worlds worst kept secret amongst the loyalists that corvo was marked. So even less people are willing to touch him- really it’s only Sam, cecelia, and Lydia that are willing to go near him, callista is working on it

Sam shakes his hand before corvo goes off on a mission. Cecilia gets a pat on the shoulder in comfort as they chat in the hound pits. Lydia touches his arm in greeting as she leaves his room after sweeping. The next morning they wake up with a gray mark of the outsider on their left hand

Cecelia’s the first to really try anything as they’re panicking in corvo’s room, trying to figure out wtf happened. She clenches her hand like she’s seen corvo do before, and disappears in a flash of blue light, reappearing in the windowsill, dizzy but giddy beyond belief

Not all of them can blink- Sam can’t, but he can windblast to his hearts content

Lydia can use dark vision and can possess rats & fish, cecelia can blink, bend time, and can jump really high (agility), Sam can windblast, summon a swarm of rats (he’s trying for sea creatures next)

The other loyalists are watching them practice in the streets outside the pub like 8/

i bet this changes the calculus of the betrayal significantly. When they approach Samuel to see if he’ll still poison corvo he just windblasts them into the wrenhaven skksksks. I always felt like Sam still went through with the poisoning because they either threatened him, or Emily, so since he has the mark, he’s not defenseless

Of course he’s super scared to touch Emily, once he realizes he gave it to the others through touch (and lack of control). But he eventually gains enough control over his abilities and gives his daughter a hug

Thinking about embly during the golden cat running up to try and hug corvo and he has to painfully avoid her while he tries to explain he cant touch her for fear of marking her.

Corvo hesitates, rolling his left hand nervously. In the gloom of the Golden Cat’s attic, the black Mark seems to shine tauntingly. He huffs, and opens the door. Emily perks up from her little nest, already nervous as to who it could be- but when she sees his horrendous mask, she scrambles further back into the corner, a scared keen wrenching itself out of her throat. Corvo quickly yanks the mask off, tucking it into his coat.

“Emily- it’s me.” He croaks, voice rough from disuse. She perks back up, fear melting into unadultered joy as she springs up from her nest, arms wide open. For a brief moment, he wants to do the same. Hold his arms open, hold his daughter close and never let go. But the shine of Samuel’s Mark flashes in his head, and he puts all of his willpower into stepping back.

“Emily- I can’t-“ he starts, voice quivering. “I’m-“ he shows his left hand to Emily, who gasps in shock. “I’m afraid I’ll mark you.” He explains.

It’s obvious Emily doesn’t fully understand, face scrunched up in confusion, but she doesn’t try to hug him anymore. The confusion fades after a moment, joy returning.

“Corvo, I’m so glad you’re here- I knew you weren’t dead.”

Oh, Emily.

Ive also thought about his own marked asking for training cause they want to help him where they can

Cecelia wants to be important. Samuel’s not sure he can be anymore. Lydia wants to find a balance between taking care of the bar and helping corvo

Corvo gets his own crew of marked. Corvolings. corvo perches up on a chimney, and his three marked are all crouched nearby

i can just imagine corvo needing to fend off people so he tells cecelia to take emily and run

"Lady Emily, we need to go." Cecelia urges, crouching down in front of Emily, back to the girl. "Pardon the abruptness, but please climb on, and don't let go."

Emily hesitates, before clambering on and linking her hands in front of Cecelia's neck without choking her, just like Corvo taught her. "I'll be running, and jumping very high, Lady Emily, so please don't be afraid."

"Okay." Emily replies, voice small. She huddles down and holds on tight, tucking her head down Cecelia's back as the woman begins her escape. She's supernaturally fast, Emily can tell, so she believes it's from Corvo's shared bond with her.

"Up we go," Cecelia murmurs, and Emily's stomach drops out beneath her. She dares a look down, and they're easily a story off the ground. A quiet eep! is all she can say as she buries her head back down.

Rooftop after rooftop, street after alleyway, Emily quickly looses count. She knows Corvo joins them soon after Cecelia's first jump, but there's yelling not far behind them so they don't have time to trade off.

do they get lil uniforms? matching masks? i can imagine them in a 'uniform' that's blue with gold lines along the edges, very Royal Protector. lil matching outfits, But like, Altered per individual to suit them

SLAMS DOOR OPEN. WHAT IF CORVO ACCIDENTALLY MARKED GEOFF. corvo shakes hands with geoff after saving him from campbell, and oops theres a mark! corvo's completely silent, geoff goes for the quiet handshake as thanks, corvo allows it.

geoff yelps and looks at his left hand, theres a grey mark burning into his skin.

a funnier proposition bc i joke in the face of stress: what if he just keeps giving random people mark powers. he chokes out a guard, aw fuck they have magic now dammit this keeps happening

Marked Campbell when he chokes him out. SFDKJ corvo just ends up marking each of his targets. Or when he grabs Capmbell's head to mark him with the heretics mark but instead Capmbell gets a real one.

HEY CUSTY MARKED PENDLETONS. Corvo leaves a trail of chaos everywhere he goes in the form of yet another marked individual. lady boyles the only one whos like "fuck. Yes.".

What if daud gets marked square.

They form a support group of those who were marked by Corvo, Geoff was the one forming it. Mental health is important in these trying times.

Corvo starts wearing mittens to his missions to avoid marking people. Daud took away his mottens so Daud gets marked again.
