i know i rarely talk in here but someone pls stop me from posting my incomprehensible yakuza/dishonored crossover/au for the love of god bc it'll be literal nonsense for ppl who know little to nothing about yakuza and even if you do it still might be indesipherable,,, but also kiryu + corvo friendship and majima + corvo friendship(?)
kiryu and corvo would be friends but i think majima would annoy the fuck out of corvo. i actually think corvo and majima would be a very. strange friendship where corvo's like "who the FUCK" at him at first but majima eventually grows on him like mold where he eventually learns to tolerate and even like majima
the au i have is basically a modern dishonored au where the plot of dishonored gets entangled in the yakuza universe. so fuckin. yakuza/dishonored crossover/au-thing because what's better than 1 serious dad who loves his daughter very much? two of them, obviously.
brain says mid-late 2000s/early 2010s for timeperiod but heart says early 90s bc nishikiyama would be there....... i'll stick to vaguely 2000s-2010s since that means more theoretical shenanigans with more characters mostly because i think akiyama and saejima should be there bc its what they deserve
i've had a couple ideas bouncing around on what jess's role would be that would could theoretically get her killed bc she's not empress in this obviously hm...... im torn between important international buisnesswoman/ceo with corvo as her bodyguard (classic, similar energy to their dynamic in dishonored) or interpol detective with corvo as her partner (also a really good dynamic, adds extra drama with crime solver turned criminal in corvo's case. also i like dynamic detective duos). either way corvo sticks by her side like glue and they have emily travelling around with them too (sometimes one of them stays with her at wherever they're living while the other is on the job in the detective situation. actually i think i'll go with the detective situation im liking it more by the minute). so jess and co are in japan to help investigating some yakuza bullshit, maybe there's smuggling so that's why theyre involved? something like that. not sure if she's investigating the tojo clan but they're definitely linked somehow...... maybe the clan running the ring was former tojo/has ex-tojo members and has connections idk. and obviously jessamine is a thorn in their side but she's quickly going from "annoyance" to "danger to our operation" so they decide they need to get her out of the picture.
SO they hire daud and his infamous band of international assassins to come to japan and take her out (they're probably known for how effective they are + how loyal his men are. sort of group that everyone talks about in hushed whispers in the underground world. rlly effective if you want someone to either vanish or to send an obvious message). corvo is out for the night and leaves emily and jess by themselves for the evening, but comes back to find jessamine murdered and a very frightened emily hiding in the back of a closet (BIG parallels to kiryu's and haruka's first meeting ideally). but before he can do anything, the cops come in and arresst him for the murder and separate him from emily (maybe she ends up in sunflower orphange and meets kiryu that way? bonus father figure plus fun times with haruka would be good). the cops in the investigation are like. Super corrupt and definitely in either daud's or the clan jess was investigating's pocket so he gets put in prison+sentenced to death. this ends up uh. Concerning the tojo clan because they're starting to think that this clan maybe pushing the established power dynamic Too Much with this murder, so they start to scheme on how to get corvo out of jail and end up with another part of interpol who formerly worked with jess on her case who also want to deal with the rogue clan (the loyalists baybeee).
while it makes more sense for the tojo to pull some legal fuckery/ bribing to get corvo at least temporarily out of jail to try and fix the mess, my heart desperately wants them to be like "majima do you still have your cop costume from when you were harassing kiryu" "yea why" "* sigh * can you break into prison and get this one dude out?" "fuck YEAH i can!!!!!!" cue insane breakout sequence with majima by your side because who doesn't want the unstable gay eyepatched man with a knife to be your first friend when you get out of jail? either way samuel's their getaway driver, he works as a chauffeur for the loyalists in this (its free taxi, but only sometimes). probably around this time emily starts trusting haruka and kiryu enough to tell them about what happened in enough detail that kiryu's like "damn it im gonna have to go to the tojo clan and talk to them about this huh." he marches down to the tojo headquarters with haruka and emily in tow and goes right up to the conference room and bursts in on daigo dojima like "listen son do you know anything about corvo attano or jessamine kaldwin or any of this buisness?" and before daigo can respond, majima also bursts in with a bedraggled corvo in tow. corvo and emily tearfully reunite while majima whoops and hollars and kiryu does one of his really small good smiles. majima is way to proud of himself and we have our standard probably gay kiryu and majima banter. corvo thanks kiryu for taking care of emily. the loyalists enter and introduce themselves to kiryu, majima and corvo and explain what's going on, why jessamine was killed and who killed her (both literally and who hired daud) and what they plan to do next. after they say where their hideout it, daigo tells the squad that he doesn't trust them but doesn't have much of a choice at the moment, but to watch their backs (majima comments that they're "shady as hell").
there's definitely a section where they figure out that the clan has a link with a loanshark of some kind/ use the loanshark as a money source, so they have to go to akiyama to ask for help on navigating this sort of thing/ they probably have to ask him for some sort of financial leverage so they can talk to and later beat the shit out of the loan shark. OH also around this time corvo starts getting messages/info/money from an anonymous source (the outsider) that seem to be untraceable and nobody can figure where they're coming from, especially considering that the anonymous messenger seems to know Way Too Much about everything that's going on. maybe the outsider is known as like. an anonymous interferer in yakuza/criminal buisness but nobody's figured out who he is or what his aims are and everyone's shocked that he's decided to pop up in this buisness.
anyways they do eventually find out where the hideout of this rogue clan is i'll think of smaller plots and how exactly they get there later maybe and they find the head of the clan on the top floor. corvo and kiryu fight him and his remaining men and once defeated, corvo, so incredibly full of rage at seeing the man responsible for jessamine's death, attempts to slice his throat, only to be pulled off by kiryu, who begs him not to fall to that, and that once you take a life, there's no going back. mercy may be too good for the man responsible for jessamine's death and his framing, but corvo is also too good to dirty his hands with his blood. corvo drops the blade. its over.
ITS NOT YAKUZA OR DISHONORED WITHOUT SOME BACKSTABBING. kiryu and corvo return to the tojo headquarters to meet up with daigo + the loyalists, expecting to have a celebration or at least a "good job!" on arrival, only to find that the loyalists and their band of cops have taken over in the strangest coup of the century, and are holding daigo hostage in the headquarters, while majima, haruka and emily are nowhere to be found. kiryu and corvo fight their way to where daigo is to try and get him, escape and regroup. while they're able to get to him, corvo is shot by havelock and begins to bleed out quickly, forcing kiryu and daigo to make a very reckless escape with the help of samuel. corvo is barely concious in the back seat of the car as both daigo and kiryu frantically do their best to stop the bleeding with what little supplies they have, until corvo's phone begins to ring. kiryu digs it out of corvo's pocket to find a message directing them to an abandoned building about 15 miles out of kamurocho. kiryu figures that this must be a message from "the outsider" who'd been messaging corvo and after breifly discussing it with daigo, comes to the conclusion that they don't have any other options, and tells samuel to drive them to that location. daigo tells kiryu he's going to go with samuel into the city to try and find where majima, haruka and emily are (kiryu doesn't want him too but daigo it Too Stubborn. corvo isn't happy about it when he hears about it later but he's too out of it for now to say anything).
daud, on the other hand, hears a car drive up to the temporary hideout he and his men are staying at and has the reaction of "ah. my time has come." since the outsider has also been messaging him about what's been happening basically right after it happens, giving daud enough information to understand what was going on, but not enough to do anything about it. daud, from the upper floor, is expecting to see corvo march out of the car, the dragon of dojima, the mad dog of shimano and an army of men close behind. he is not expecting to see kiryu desparately trying to keep a bandaged, half-concious corvo upright as the car drives away. the whole situation is wrong, and he's not sure how to react as he watches kiryu gently sit corvo down on an old bench, until kiryu looks up at where daud is watching from and the two make eye contact. daud's like "ah. my time has really come now." as kiryu... looks away, and waits. for a while. daud's not sure what to do at that, so he waits too.
kiryu waits until corvo finally wakes up, which is faster than kiryu expected. corvo awakes with a groan, and after a bit of help from kiryu, finally aligns himself and asks where they are and what happened. kiryu catches him up and hesitates before finally telling the truth. corvo's demeanor shifts and he stands up, to kiryu's protests and opens the door to find a wall of daud's men facing him. he demands to see daud, but is met with silence. he tries to shove through instead, and while they try to stop him, when kiryu steps in to help (more out of concern for corvo than anything else), they're eventually defeated as corvo makes his way up to the top floor, kiryu on his heels. daud's expecting death, of course, and braces for it after a short, half-hearted battle, but instead of a gunshot to the head or a blade to the neck, he gets something he thinks might be much worse. corvo has a blade, yes, but instead of ending daud's life with it, he tosses it aside, hands shaking and only asks two simple questions: why? was it worth it? kiryu stands behind him with an expression akin to pride. daud isn't sure how to respond.
he doesn't need to either, since in the pause after the words leave corvo's mouth, as the sound of screeching tires, followed by the sound and feeling of a car crashing into the building interrupt the scene. by the sounds of it, paired with the hysterical laughter, majima has been rediscovered. corvo and kiryu rush to the window, abandoning daud on the floor, to find haruka and emily waving from below next to a pleased looking samuel. there's a van rammed through the front of the building as well, but samuel's taxi seems relatively unharmed. a moment later, the room's door is kicked open by a wild eyed majima, arm around the neck of a panicked looking thomas, a bedgraggled and disgruntled looking daigo close behind. daud just sort of. stands there is shock, at a loss for words, as majima screeches in delight upon seeing kiryu and corvo, despite corvo's wounded state, and abandons thomas, leaving the poor subordinate to stumble away, gasping for air. corvo and kiryu leave in a flurry with majima and daigo while daud watches in astonishment as samuel's car drives away and he is still intact. (daud gets a message from the outsider later that basically boils down to "did u like ur visitor lmao. also i sent him ur number lol bye"). the gang regroups (probably in new serena or they just barge into sky finance like "AKIYAMA WE'RE CRASHING HERE SORRY ITS ONLY FOR A BIT" bc i think that would be funny. and i look for any excuse for akiyama to be in situations)
corvo's still injured, but they decide that they have to take back the tojo headquarters as soon as they can, since the loyalists could start cementing their powers if they take too long, and they're all sure that the loyalists want them dead anyways, so they have to do this soon. they attempt to formulate a plan to sneak in, using everyones knowledge of the layout of the place. this plan is. Partially successful. corvo and daigo are able to successfully avoid combat, but kiryu and majima are forced to take down a couple men, kiryu moreso. however, they unfortunately learn that the loyalists themselves have moved to the millenium tower BECAUSE ITS NOT A FINAL YAKUZA CONFRONTATION UNLESS ITS AT THE TOP OF THE MILLENIUM TOWER unless its 0 so they leave daigo at tojo headquarters to reorganize and try and get things closer to normal as corvo, kiryu and majima go off to the millenium tower. they find. surprisingly little resistence as they head up. yes there's gaurds that get the shit kicked out of them, but its not the army they were expecting. they get their answer when they reach the rooftop and find the bodies of all the loyalists besides havelock, who stands at the edge of the tower, overlooking the city. he remarks that he knew they'd come, and that he should've figured this was a lost cause, a mad struggle for power, but that he supposes that's the allure of control, as he turns around. he challenges them to one last fight, and while he's tough (i mean. he does have a gun), 3 against one is hardly fair, and he's defeated. and when he figures out that none of them is going to kill him, not even corvo, he decides to finish the job himself.
the tojo clan eventually rebalances and returns to the way things were, and when the police get a signed confession to jessamine's murder from daud, they're forced to drop the charges against corvo, with the tojo clan quietly sweeping any other possible charges under the rug with a little legal trickery a bribery. kiryu and haruka go back to the small amount of normalcy they had while corvo decides to put aside detective work, or at least find a more stable version of it, so he can raise emily. maybe he becomes a private eye, that might be fun, he could be friends from yagami from judgement later in life.......
in terms of karaoke, which is clearly the most important part of this au, corvo would definitely have MachineGun Kiss as one of his songs because i think its the one with the biggest dad energy, and also ijisakura (ishin's version). cant say why, i just think it fits. daud has bakamitai and judgement (who he sings with billie, since she doesn't betray him in this au and its heavily implied that he's been bullied into singing it by her). emily either sings get to the top or otometal my life like baby haruka does (maybe they have a duet vers??? idk i think thatd be cute). corvo of course has the overexuberant dad cheering and a weird background cheering dance like the protags of yakuza 5 do.
